George's Treacle Tart


  • 225g plain flour
  • 110g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 450g golden syrup 
  • 85g breadcrumbs 
  • Pinch of ginger 
  • Zest of 1 lemon


  1. Heat oven to 200c/180c Fan
  2. Rub the flour and butter together
  3. Beat egg and add to flour and butter
  4. Dust side of 9” tin and roll pastry
  5. Put in oven and blind bake pastry until golden
  6. Whilst pastry is baking, make the filling by mixing together all the ingredients in a bowl and pour into
    the pastry case 
  7. Bake for 30 minutes and serve with clotted cream
