Wine - What a problem!

What to include, what not to include, too many, not enough, never heard of it (so it doesn't sell), "I can get this at ‘Winos' on the High Street" (so it doesn't sell!), this is on the list because I like it (but no-one else does, so it doesn't sell), too expensive too cheap...

The permutations to putting together a list are endless but, I must admit, good fun nevertheless! The final product is not an overblown ego - trip, but quite compact and designed to be user friendly. I hope you find something which pleases; I have tried to be as representative as possible of both grape varieties and countries of origin, without the whole think getting out of hand! Some ‘classics' you will find; Sancerre, Chablis and Pomerol for example, together with some ‘eclectics'; the Malabar Spice Route from South Africa, or especially the Duro Red and Xisto from Quinta do Crasto in Portugal - blissful drinking!

In an attempt to simplify choosing, both whites and reds have been basically categorised into light medium and full bodied. Within those Categories, you will find grape varieties and country of origin. Happy choosing!

On the serving of wine....

Our aim at George's is to provide essentially uncomplicated, attentive, yet unobtrusive service. In keeping with that aim, we have dispensed with the formal ‘theatre' normally associated with the service of wine. You will find your chosen wine opened and waiting at your table for you to help yourself. Naturally, should there be a problem with the quality of your chosen wine (which can happen, thankfully rarely), please let us know and it will be rectified.
