The following menu is a sample of the style of food available in George's at both lunch and dinner. Menus do change quite regularly and may not be updated on the website. Please enquire and we will always be happy to fax or e-mail the latest versions!
Here at the George we are proud of the ingredients we use and whenever possible we use local suppliers and produce from in and around Derbyshire.

Smoked haddock and Gruyere fish cake
with sweet pepper dressing, parsley oil and cress salad
Pigeon, red onion & pancetta pasty
with butternut squash puree, red wine glaze

with shin and onion pie, butternut squash fondant, roast shallots, red wine sauce

Pan roasted loin of venison, potato & black truffle terrine

Brin d'amour - a goat's milk cheese from the island of Corsica. Rolled in rosemery, juniper and chilli, this cheese is both rustic and elegant
Hartington Stilton - the king of British cheeses from the local cheese makers of Derbyshire
Tomme de Savoie - A semi hard cheese from Savoie in the French Alps. It has a slightly salty but mild flavour and due to the long maturing process one can often detect a subtle flavour of grass!
Reblochon - this is a semi soft and surface ripened cheese from the Savoy mountain region of France. It has a yeasty aroma and a sweet taste of walnuts.
Coulommiers-made in lle de France from unpasteurised milk, similar to Brie De Meaux but can be stronger.
Snowdonia Mature black wax Cheddar - rich mature cheddar sealed in wax to lock in the flavour.
All cheeses are served with walnut and raisin bread, apples celery and grapes.
