George´s

George´s

The food at George´s is basically about simplicity combined with freshness. Helen Heywood's (Chef at the George since 2006 and prior to that Jnr. Sous Chef at our sister hotel, the Cavendish at Baslow) approach has always been based around flavours, fresh ingredients and innovation, presented simply and served informally in relaxed surroundings.

If we can make it we will - from bread to marmalade, jam and ice-cream, petit-fours to relishes or pasta. This dedication brought the George recognition from various industry watchers including the AA in the form of our first rosette as far back as 1997 and then two in 2000 which have been maintained ever since and recently reconfirmed for 2010.

Refurbishment in George´s restaurant and in February 2008 a complete re-design of the lounge and bar, have brought a contemporary feel, with cool colours, wooden flooring and feature lighting, a modern style complimenting Helen's dishes. The service too, you will find, is friendly, efficient and relaxed with a minimum of fuss or interruption. Formality is not on the menu!

Having said that (!) you would expect that there would be no dress code (and there isn´t), but nevertheless smart casual dress would be nice! (We will ask t-shirts and trainers be changed for something a little smarter!)
