The Wedding breakfast
In the Courtyard Suite we can cater for a maximum of 70 persons seated and 100 for an informal evening reception. This comprises the Courtyard Suite and Boardroom, with it's own Bar, or Courtyard Patio (weather permitting) for your reception drinks. In any event the Courtyard is completely private and is not overlooked. There is no room hire charge for your reception.
The layout can vary to suit your requirements. All our tables are oblong although round tables can be hired and prices are available on request. Round tables are only available for a maximum of 50 persons.
We can offer a wide range of menus to choose from, but should you have a specific dish you would like, Chef Ben Handley is available to discuss this and help if he can.
Experience tells us that the quality of food and levels of service we aim to provide can only be achieved when a set menu, common to all those attending, is chosen. Prices indicated are per person a whilst we do not offer a children's menu, smaller portions of the chosen dishes can be provided.(Prices shown are for the 2007 season)
Canapes - £4.50 per person
Three courses - soup or starter, main course, dessert and coffee £37.00
Four courses ( with the addition of an intermediate or cheese course) - £43.00
Home made petit fours provided at coffee - £2.50
At George's we make every effort to use the finest produce available from local Derbyshire suppliers.
Civil Ceremonies
We are licensed to hold a civil ceremony here at the George. For up to 45 persons the ceremony can be accommodated in the Boardroom and can take place anytime up to 6.00pm. The Wedding Breakfast will then held in the Courtyard Suite and the drinks reception in the Lounge (although this is not exclusive) or the Courtyard Patio (weather permitting).
The cost of holding your ceremony here is £375.00 and includes VAT, a pedestal arrangement of flowers and one table arrangement of seasonal flowers.
Evening Entertainment
Should your Wedding Celebrations extend into the evening with a disco or live entertainment, then we require that the whole hotel is taken on an exclusive use basis. A variety of entertainment can be provided from a disco to a string quartet or live band. The cost for a DJ is from £250 and prices for bands can be made available on request.
The evening celebrations (music and bar) should be timed to close at 12.30am.
Exclusive Use
Exclusive use of the Hotel ensures enhanced privacy and comfort for your Celebrations throughout the day and evening; this will mean that only your party will have use of the Hotel facilities and bedrooms during your stay from the time your Wedding is booked to arrive until after breakfast the following morning.You must agree to guarantee that all the bedrooms will be booked by your party (these can be either paid by yourselves on behalf of your guests, or, as is more usual, be paid on departure individually by your guests).
Should the reception extend beyond 5pm or continue into the evening with entertainment and additional guests arriving, then exclusive use of the Hotel becomes mandatory.
Exclusive use charges for the George are as follows, all other Reception, Ceremony and Bedroom costs are additional :
