Indulge with George…
A low lit den of exposed brickwork, where candlelight doesn’t feel clichéd. You may need a while to decide on a wine – there’s so many to choose from. With classic British dishes, George’s food is all about simplicity and freshness. Chef Helen Heywood’s approach has always been focused on flavours, fresh ingredients and innovation.
If we can make it, we will. From bread to marmalade, jams to relishes, ice creams and petit fours to pasta. This dedication to homemade excellence has brought the George recognition from those who set the standard in the hotel industry, including the AA in the form of our first rosette as far back as 1997, followed by two in 2000 which have been maintained ever since and have recently been reconfirmed for 2010.
Formality is not on the menu! Having said that, you would expect that there would be no dress code (and there isn’t really), but nevertheless smart casual dress is the done thing when dining with George, don’t you think?
